He's
racked up singles for the likes of Mental Groove, Perlon, Desolat and of course
Cadenza. He's remixed everyone from M83 to Salif Keita, and his mix CDs for
Fabric and Soma's Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi. series have showcased minimal house and techno at
their most sensual, supple and jubilant. And Luciano's DJ sets have become the
stuff of legend the world over. Throughout his career, the Swiss-Chilean musician
has experimented liberally with longer formats, including a live album for Thomas
Brinkmann's max.Ernst label and 2004's groundbreaking No Model No Tool, a
recombinant set of groove components. But in all this time he has released only
one proper studio album, 2004's Blind Behaviour, which veered away from the
dancefloor in search of more esoteric pleasures. At long last, with Tribute to the
Sun, Luciano delivers one of the definitive highlights of his career. Not merely a
"dance" or "electronic" record, Tribute incorporates musical styles from around the
globe with Luciano's inimitable rhythmic sensibility. It draws upon Luciano's
extensive experience as a mover of bodies and a reader of the crowd's mind. Many
of its grooves form an integral part of Luciano's DJ sets, having been road-tested
and continually refined. But it's very much an album to be listened to front to back.
(Most of the album's cuts will also be made available as extended edits, for vinyl
and download alike.) Tribute to the Sun is above all a highly personal portrait of the
artist. Informed by the ups and downs of the artist's life, and the balancing act
between life on the road and the refuge of family life in rural Switzerland, its
moods run from the heavenly grace of "Celestial" to the outright madness of
"Metodisma." This is the fullest portrait yet of Luciano as not just an artist but a
human being.

Four years in the making, the album finds Luciano collaborating with a cast of
musicians as talented as they are diverse. Martina Topley-Bird, of course, is known
for her haunting contributions to Tricky's early classics, as well as for her solo
career and collaborations with the likes of Danger Mouse and Mike Patton. Senegal's
Ali Boulo Santo, heir to a long line of griots and nephew of the legendary "King of
the Kora" Soundioulou Cissoko, was said to be "born with a Kora in his hands"; he
pioneered an electronic fusion of Mandingue Afrobeat in his recordings for Frédéric
Galliano's Frikyiwa label, and here his contributions continue to expand the
possibilities for "world" music in new contexts. Switzerland's Bruno Bieri is the
inventor of the Hang, a kind of steel drum with a sound like a mountain stream;
"Hang for Bruno" features both his limpid melodies and the contributions of the
Israeli percussionist Omri Hason, a student of the Iranian master Djamchid
Chemirani. Omri Is also part of Luciano’s live project Aether.

Samples here

Perlon76

Goodbye Skull Disco, hello Perlon!

As some of you might know Shackleton is ready with new material: "Three EPs".
I've been searching for samples for more than a week now. Some you of guys may know the brother label Lomidhigh Lmtd with releases from Massi DL, Gurtz, Violett among others. Unlike Lomidhigh Lmtd which is strictly limited to 200 copies of each release, LMH Organic should as far as I can tell appear as an "unlimited" label with focus on housy stuff.

Dunno about you, but I'm deffinetely looking forward to some rockin' house releases - hopefully. Lomidhigh Lmtd is all about good, quality releases (maybe except the very first release) - let's hope this label stays on the same track. Personally I'm really not a big fan of this house trend that has been going on lately. Within the last year or so I've heart soooo much "summer house" with a bit to much conga, trumphet or juicy fruit drinks samples..bahhh! Okay, don't generalize, Peter! But don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of house, but once in a while I'm shocked by the stuff out there. I hope and believe LMH Organic finds a nice balance between pure minimal and beach party house. Nevertheless this is one of Seuil's best releases so far.
Go to their myspace and see for yourself! And btw, check out the nice artwork - reminds me of good ol' Perlon.

RA.115 Patrice Bäumel

Tracklist
01. Only four months after starting his dj career at the world famous Amsterdam-based iT, everybody knew his name and skills. He was invited to rock the dance floors of all the famous clubs in town and worked as a resident for Mazzo, Paradiso and the legendary RoXY. Two years later his name was listed among the top dj’s of the nation, and he was playing all over the country including festivals like Lowlands, Pink Pop, Mysteryland, etc. Since that time, Angelo has been rewarded with three Best Dutch Dj awards, and has become one of the most popular DJ/ Producers in the country. After releasing his underground hit “To The Floor” (supported by people like Carl Cox) Angelo travelled around the world doing gigs in Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, China, USA, Bulgaria, Russia, Israel, Prague, Macedonia, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, Croatia, Norway, Italy, Belgium and many more. Over the years, Angelo has played with many of the top names in the techno-house scene such as Derrick May, Kenny Larkin, Billy Nasty, Westbam, Mr. C., Laurent Garnier, Tom Middleton, Pepe Bradock Underworld, Ken Ishii, Slam dj’s, Funk d’void, Pure Science, System 7 , Prodigy (Pinkpop), Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Orbital (Lowlands). Angelo is recently a resident dj on sundays @ Club NL and releasing/ed music for 90wattsrecords, Kismet records, Serious Radio Recordings and 2DJs4Love.

90wattsrecords is a fresh new label with a tech-house and deep-house flavour, based in Amsterdam. The release marked a clear departure from Dalessandro's traditional production style, implementing a distinguishable house vibe while still maintaining a forward-thinking techno feel.

Following the success of "The Booty Drop EP," Hephner took little time in preparing his first vinyl release for Siteholder, entitled the "Pimp Slappin'" EP. Building upon his prior success, the EP found its way into some of the world's top DJ's record bags. Up until this point, the individual behind the Hephner alias had remained a secret. However, following the critical acclaim of "Pimp Slappin'," it was only a matter of time until Hephner's true identity was revealed.

Merely one year later, Hephner ups the ante with the release of his debut album, entitled "Nymphotech." This full-length album marks the culmination of Hephner's young career with Siteholder Records - a label that techno legend Sven Vath claims is "putting Chicago back on the map."

Keeping today's volatile vinyl market in mind, Siteholder takes a unique release approach for their first full-length album. Instead of going the traditional double-pack route, "Nymphotech" will be released on vinyl via two separate three-track album samplers. The two remaining tracks will be available exclusively in digital format via Beatport. Those who purchase a digital copy of "Nymphotech" in its entirety will also get a free 30-minute live set by Hephner.

"After a successful digital EP and vinyl release, I really felt like it was time to put myself to the test by producing an entire album - the first I had ever done under an alias," Billy notes, "from the beginning I had always wanted to create a separate identity with an equally fruitful career to the one I've built under my given name... Huge Hephner has allowed me to do that and at a pace beyond anything I could have ever imagined!"

As Dalessandro prepares to hit the road in August for yet another European tour, Nymphotech is poised not only to ensure further recognition of the Huge Hephner name, but also push Siteholder Records into the few pockets of the planet it has yet to penetrate.

Release date: August 15.
Tracklisting:

1. When the nice weather starts to arrive, the great techno parties slowly move outside. Sunday Adventure Club is no exception. The whole bangin' blast takes place on June 15th and will be located at an open air spot with 3 scenes near Postbahnhof. The program goes like this: 10am to 10pm outdoors and from 6pm till last man standing indoors.

Check out this year’s insane line-up:

Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Matthew Dear's Band, Josh Wink, Zip, Magda, Marc Houle Live, Karotte, Tobi Neumann, Paco Osuna, Matt John, Troy Pierce, Guido Schneider, Cassy, Steve Bug, Heartthrob Live, Konrad Black and finally and Marco Carola and Loco Dice B2B.

Well, if you’re a sucker for the big guns in minimal techno, this is in my oponion an event you should consider before hitting Sόnar. Basically you’ll find yourself in one huge label night since a great amount of the Berlin techno labels are represented.

Hopefully I’ll be able to upload some sets and stuff from the event. We’ll see:-)

Make sure to buy yourself some tickets before it’s too late. Go to the official Sunday Adventure Club website and purchase some passes. Maybe I’ll see you there. Can’t wait!
